Hi. My customer wants a module, called module A, to be displayed in the search form but not when you select an item link from the search results which opens a new page. The item is a database item. Module A has the search form menu item selected in menu assignments. How do you display an item's contents without displaying module A?

I have a menu item under a hidden menu called database category blog so that if you do a joomla search on the database items, it will display the correct modules around it, not module A. In module A, this menu item, database category blog is not selected in the menu assignments.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Tina,

What sort of module are you using? If it is a SEBLOD module, you can go to the URL Assignment tab, and put "view=search" in the URL Assignment (Show) field. That will ensure it's only shown in the search form view.

Otherwise,

  1. use a custom module position (by typing something new in to the module position field and hit "tab")
  2. Create a Joomla Module field and use it in your search form view
  3. Add the custom module position name to your module field setup so it displays your module

This will ensure the module only appears where the search form is shown.

Cheers,

James
