Is this the first time you're installing Seblod on this particular Joomla installation?

To be honest I can not remember for sure - I had played with seblod on another test site and do not think I installed it on this, but can not be sure. Before getting this specific error I had tried to install it and it failed. I did not record the error message on that occasion. It failed to uninstall and I had to uninstall each module/component etc manually.

I then re-tried the install to get the error message

Please can you try on a native Joomla website. On your real site try to uninstall SEBLOD and install again. Try alternative install solution by uploading directly SEBLOD package with FTP on Joomla tmp directory.

Not sure what you mean by 'native' joomla ?

BTW can you give a bit more detail behind the error message? ("Another menu item with the same parent has this alias")

I mean if I knew what alias it was tring to use I could confirm whether or not there actually was another menu item already with it.

Your issue is strange. We have never see it. 

It's a Joomla message, no more details. 

Can you try to install a fresh Joomla and install SEBLOD on it?

Have you another component which use "cck" in URL?

I have the same problem but when permissions are set for 'Edit' 'Allowed' then the problem disappears.
